Fettercairn is a small village in Aberdeenshire north west of Laurencekirk conveniently situated 30 miles south of the city of Aberdeen on the A90. Fettercairn boats a rich history, countryside walks, road links to Royal Deeside, local shops and a café in addition to all the benefits of living in a rural village community. The area is also within easy reach of Dundee just over 30 miles to the south-west, making Fettercairn the ideal countryside base for commuting to either city – either by car or via regular rail services to Aberdeen and Dundee from Laurencekirk station, also connecting the town to nearby Stonehaven and Montrose.
Laurencekirk is the nearest town with a population which has grown to around 3,000 and is home to a good range of local businesses including cafés, restaurants and specialist shops as well as community amenities and services. The considerable growth of the town is the result of a number of new housing developments in the area. However, Laurencekirk has managed to retain its community feel through community forums such as Mearns FM, a local radio station dedicated to providing locals with updates of events and news in the town.
